On November 25, 2014 Mr. Dan Firnstahl (shown above center) was honored by Mr. Alan Rock, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Bureau (above right) with the Extra Mile Employee Award.  Mr. Firnstahl was nominated by Mr. Paul Thornton, Director of Black River Industries, Inc. (above left) during a lunch celebration.  Mr. Firnstahl has been with Black River Industries since January of 1997.  During his tenure Mr. Firnstahl has delivered thousands of Meals-On-Wheels to hundreds of senior citizens throughout the area. Oftentimes individuals receiving the meals have little to no other daily contact. Mr. Firnstahl’s regular visits provide more than hot food. For some individuals his regular deliveries represent their only community contact, especially during long, cold winter months when many senior residents remain isolated in their homes.

The Extra Mile Employee Award was developed to recognize individuals who go above and beyond the expectations of their employment. Over his many years of service at Black River Industries Mr. Firnstahl has gone the extra mile.
