Phoenix Villa residents enjoy a 12-unit (10 one-bedroom and 2 two-bedroom) apartment building, recently made-over as a result of a fire that damaged two apartments. That incident resulted in many improvements, including ceramic floors in most public areas, new ceilings, painting, roofing, etc. Out of a near-tragedy (no one was injured), Phoenix Villa came back even better. The complex sits on a quiet site at the terminus of a dead-end street. The ample campus has a nice lawn, areas with natural grasses and woodlands. Just adjacent is a public walking trail and a pond. All this provides a variety of opportunities to picnic, hike or just plain relax. Downtown Hayward, a tourist mecca at least three seasons a year, is a bustling center of activity, with all genres of commercial outlets, some with local artistic and folkloric leanings that attract a variety of interested parties. Hayward is the self-proclaimed “Muskie Capital of the World” and the lakes and forests that endow a wide sweep around Hayward make it a true northwoods jewel. Phoenix Villa is served by a Tenant Services Coordinator, a professional charged with assisting participating residents with accessing desired services and resources. |
